Meet the Editor

Ciara is a graduate student at Fordham University, where she is pursuing her Masters of

Science in Data Science. She also received her Bachelors of Business Administration in

Finance and Information Systems at Iona College in 2021.

She joined the FCSA initially as a Youth Advocate in 2016, after gaining attention from

her blog, FibroAura. She took on the additional role of Community and Outreach Coordinator in

2021. Her project interests include demographic analysis of patients with Fibromyalgia, social

media content creation, research on new fibromyalgia treatment and spearheading the FCSA

bilingual newspaper, Fibro Focused (Enfocados en Fibro).

After being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at 16, she became passionate about raising

awareness, not only for Fibromyalgia, but youth living with the illness. The focus of her blog and

advocacy is learning and teaching children new ways to deal with the symptoms of Fibromyalgia

and how they can make the most of their lives. Her mission is to teach the younger generation

that they are more than their chronic illnesses.

Her hobbies include playing Animal Crossing, reading, makeup, watching films and

geeking out on new technology. A fun fact about Ciara is that she has native fluency in Spanish,

as well as basic proficiency in Mandarin. She can be contacted at cserpa@fibro.org with any

questions or suggestions.
