Voices of Fibro-Katina Parris

17 Aug Voices of Fibro-Katina Parris

My name is Katina Parris and I live in Philadelphia, PA. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2015, after surviving eight motor vehicle accidents between 2009 and 2011.

My next to last accident caused a lot of major damage. I had to learn how to speak clearly again and walk with one foot in front of the other, instead of like a pigeon.

My mom and daughters have been extremely supportive as they have taken care of me when needed.

My Fibromyalgia diagnosis has affected my mind greatly. For about two years, I was not able to do many things on my own mentally nor physically. Fortunately, I later realized I had to do something towards the betterment of my life.

I began physical and mental therapy.  During this time, I ran into an old friend who constantly put Focus into my head. He took it upon himself to reach out to me during his break and would say, “Baby, I need you to focus.” During my Fibro fog, he would remind me to dig. This would later become the name of my brand – Focus Brand. I sell t-shirts in efforts to raising awareness of Fibromyalgia.
